Under the Azure Dome

Under-the-Azure-DomeMy hand-carved sculpture is a tale of man and woman as a symbol for all human beings united through their hearts, souls, and energies. They are united under the Azure Dome and protected by the One Blue Sky. They exist through their centers and through hearts full of life and energy – which is now ONE.

Through personal insights into human existence, I have displayed the oneness between human beings and the universe. At the same time, the stone guided me through and showed me the path, brought me closer to nature and its core value. Looking at my sculpture, I believe that you can hear my message and the message of this stone, a stone which has witnessed many tales.

There are many elements, topics, and meanings that can be found in this piece of art. Possible points of focus include:

  • A man and woman: Symbolizing the unity and oneness of human beings
  • The Azure Dome: The protection that comes from a higher power
  • A Horse: Symbolizing power, grace, beauty, strength, and freedom – a link between earth and heaven
  • An Elephant: Symbolizing the qualities of wisdom and knowledge
  • A Hand: A token of peace and protection

As an observer, one is free to find, through one’s own imagination, many other expressions in this piece of artwork.

Contemporary Abstract Sculpture

My first Soapstone Sculpture!

We learned to carve in first year of the Visual Arts Program at school on a Plaster/Vermiculite block. For someone with no previous experience in sculpture, nevertheless in carving, it was a challenge learning new techniques.

One week after school finished, I bought a Brazilian soapstone, had my sketches ready and started carving. I had no idea what to expect. I was thinking it should be the same as the block that I carved for the school project, but it wasn’t!

At first I was eager to finish it fast to see the result, but I learned that it’s not that easy and I shouldn’t rush.

This was a great experience for me considering I have no patience.

In this journey, I’ve learned to be patient. I’ve learned to enjoy the process. And most of all I have learned to communicate with the piece. It was like the stone is communicating through me, it’s guiding me through a path, it’s talking to me. I felt like I am far, far away, in the heart of nature. I was in tune with nature. I was one with it! Some kind of spiritual connection with nature through the stone, that is not describable and was exciting and overwhelming.

So, I learned a LOT in this process and enjoyed it immensely!

Be well! :)

Snake Peek!

In a sunny, mild and beautiful day, we were picnicking in a side-city park, on a labour day weekend. Many people walking long side the beach with their dogs. Then, an unusual pet, a snake, came along with his owner! It was kind of surprising and mysterious.

While the owner was taking the walk, some people with hesitation but curious, got closer to ask him questions.

It was triggering for us too to take advantage of this exclusive show. I mean, how many times you see a person walking around, so casual, with his snake pet?

So the mystique site did its job, and my friend and I, hesitantly walked toward the snake and its owner. When we got closer he was explaining that he has 4 of them 2 females and 2 males, and that this one was kind of bored, therefore he took him for a walk! He also explained that there is no danger to us if we want to pet him. So we did, and contrary to my imagination, he was soft, gentle and mushy.

Although it was a bit scary but I liked the experimentation. :)

Walking on cloud nine

My first week of a 3 year adult visual art program!

I cannot describe the feeling of joy and gratefulness!

The feeling of “belonging”. The feeling of “utmost gratefulness”. The feeling of “I think, therefore I am”. The feeling of “walking on cloud nine”. The feeling of “blissfulness”. The feeling of “life make sense”. The feeling of “peacefulness”. The feeling of “Love”.

Fall 2011-Niagara on the lake, Ontario

It’s really hard to recount how you would feel when you are going back in time. Like there was no gap of emptiness; all these years. Or the past unfairness no longer matters;  as I found my way to righteousness.

Leaving my job and going back to school was an immense decision to make. The decision that I was postponing for all these years because of fear. The fear of what will arise if I come out of this maze that I was living in; like a mouse.

Know that fear is the worst enemy of your life and soul. Acknowledging it, it is liberating, so you can be ‘YOU‘.

I don’t look into past since it’s too heavy to carry it forward. I will just live in NOW from now on. Yes, not a single regret nor a sigh, since I am in place of a morale high!!

I wish the same feeling for all human beings: peace & love.
